Family Program: Chinese New Year Rattle Drums

Saturday, February 02, 2019 - 01:00pm

Chinese New Year—often called “Spring Festival” in modern China—begins February 5 and marks the start of the year on the traditional Chinese calendar. Learn about Chinese New Year and celebrate by making an instrument used in many Chinese festivals: the rattle drum, or Bo Lang Gu. Take inspiration from percussion instruments used in country music and found throughout the galleries then create your own rattle drum. Ages four and up. Taylor Swift Education Center.
